Invite: January 2020

The turning of the year elicits a lot of feelings in a lot of people. This year, I haven't felt drawn to reinvention or dramatic exploration (maybe because last year I participated in a virtual swim across the English Channel?!). This year, I've just invited in what's been hanging around my mental doorstep, which so far is lots of episodes of On Being (always good to hear Brene!), some light jogging, and longhand pages at 7 a.m. I hope 2020 delivers whatever you desire and that you invite a few things in that surprise and delight you.
Last call for short story smorsgabord
Continuing Short Story Writing starts January 30 at the ArtsCenter in Carrboro. If you are looking for an extravaganza of short stories, craft talk, and writing exercises, sign up now.
And if this isn't your cup of tea right now, at least take some time over the next few weeks to incorporate fun words into your writing time and experiment with all the weird, wacky ways language can work for (or against) us.
Storytelling throwdown, February 15
Speaking of fun, I'm teaching a one-day storytelling workshop on February 15. Think of it as a festival of narrative and performance. It'll be a blast, so if you're looking for a laugh (and likely a cry), sign up now.
