Land: April thoughts on reading and writing

Dear friends,
It's April, or as KEXP's John Richards says, March 97th. KEXP, an independent radio station out of Seattle, has been a companion of mine for decades now, and is helping me through the current moment, keeping me tethered to the earth. I hope you have old friends & solid standbys holding you up right now.
Are we carrying on? Is this the new normal? Will we emerge OK, changed? I don't have any answers to the big questions. I only know that, despite Zoom as the medium, the time I spend talking about and teaching writing is the good part, the bright spot, in what is mostly an absolute smear of shit. Pardon my French.
Maybe you want to join me for some of the things below. That would be great. If not, I hope you are finding outlets for your creativity, your energy, your essence. If something below appeals to you but you are in financial difficulty, please be in touch -- there are options.
To close, I'll echo George Saunders' email to his students at Syracuse, which he reads in Sugar Calling (link below): feel free to email any time, for any reason.
Best,
J.
