Inch: More April thoughts on reading and writing

Hello again!
I keep thinking I'll send you fewer newsletters, but there are things I want you to know about, and let's face it, I like saying hi. Putting together this newsletter is an activity I enjoy, a ritual I've been able to sustain in this strange time. I've returned to my writing desk; I'm glad to be spending time again in the messy, weird, consuming activity of making up a story, inventing human beings. It feels both essential and meaningless. Accordingly, I love and hate that duality.
In the next two weeks, I'll be putting together another class for the ArtsCenter, to be offered online starting in early May. I have some ideas of what that class might look like, but I'd love to hear from you on this topic as well--are there certain topics or genres you'd like to have discussed in a class? Authors you want to read? Times you want to meet? If you are interested in taking a class in May and want to suggest some topics, please fill out this anonymous form. Your feedback is so appreciated!
And maybe a writing class is the last thing on your mind right now. I hope that you are all finding ways to expend your creative energy and soothe your souls. As always, be in touch.
Best,
J.
Online poetry reading, Thursday 4/16 at 8pm
The Mothership is hosting an online poetry reading on Thursday at 8:30pm--that's tomorrow! If you love poetry, join some folks for a late night poetry reading virtual hang.
Choose your favorite poems or poems that are particularly supportive for you during this time to read OR just come to listen to poems and connect with other folks. This is open to anyone (not just members) but folks need RSVP on eventbrite to get the zoom link prior to the event.
