Relax: July 2018
Sweet July, warm July!
Month when mosses near the stream,
Soft green mosses thick and shy,
Are a rapture and a dream.

Art Party! August 4th, 7pm

On Saturday August 4th at 7pm, The Mothership will be hosting its First Annual Art Party. This event will be an opportunity for artists of all kinds together to share their work and enhance our creative energy. It is free & open to the public, and anyone who wants to present their art (including visual) is welcome to.
You can go right now to this link to RSVP, and while you're there, consider signing up to read some of your work. Does that sound scary? Well, maybe, but let me tell you reading aloud is exhilarating. Most of what writers do is sit at home alone quietly and move words around. It feels very good to share those words with others, to realize that your work doesn't exist in a vacuum. It exists in this wide wacky world, which needs all the art it can get.
I really hope you will join me -- this is going to be a super fun night that will get you all excited about writing, introduce you to other creative folks, and remind you that making stuff and putting it out in the world is a truly honorable way to spend your time.

Have you heard of Hannah Gadsby? She has a Netflix special called Nanette that debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and has been the talk of the town since. If you are interested in what honest, daring, expertly crafted art looks like, go watch it NOW.
If you only read one book this summer...
Make it The Power by Naomi Alderman. It's brilliant, gripping, chilling, insightful. Not enough to get you over to the bookstore to pick it up? Imagine a world where women can generate electricity with their bodies. Where they control and dominate politics, economy, war, and of course, men. If you're feeling a little down on the current world order, you'll enjoy stepping into this one.
