Settle: October 2018
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
--Dylan Thomas
No matter what corner of the earth you inhabit, there has been much turbulence of late. But Mother Nature ignores the news ticker and adheres to her schedule, and she has already begun to bring us the darkness and invite us to slow down. As the darker hours increase, I find myself hoarding library books and flipping through old notebooks, perhaps in search of earlier versions of myself. Like a dog, it takes me a few dozen turns in front of the sofa before I can plunk down and settle in, but eventually I do.
My creative flames burn a little weaker in the winter, which makes gathering all the more important. Please join me for another Art Party on November 10th. Area artists working in a variety of genres will present their creations. This gathering is inspiring and exciting, and I promise you'll leave with your creative gas tank full. And if you are ready to read your work in front of a supportive, welcoming audience, sign up now! If not, RSVP now so you can absorb the good juju, which will keep you going into the winter months.

What am I reading? Check out my shelfie! This is my "pending" shelf, where I keep the latest library goodies handy. Whenever it's reading time, I grab whatever strikes my fancy. And yes, I am always reading several books at once!

If you are still kicking around some anger and are in the market for a good revenge story, let me suggest Stone Mattress by Margaret Atwood (thank you, Claire, for passing this along!).
