On our knees, saying thank you

As Thanksgiving approaches, I am reminded of W.S. Merwin's poem Thanks, which I swear includes the line "on our knees, we are giving thanks," except it doesn't. My memory is often an unreliable narrator.
This is a hard year to say thanks. I know many people who are running on empty. I've been fighting for joy, trying to find pleasure and positivity wherever I can. One thing that has worked: baking something from Smitten Kitchen and giving away half to my neighbors. But I don't shy away from the grief and the rage. Feeling shitty is a hallmark of the human experience. It also makes for good writing.
As this season of gratitude commences, I will give thanks where I can, curses where I can't. Mostly though, I'll keep writing it all down. I'll be in the park for a few more outdoor writing meetups if you want some writing company. If you need more guidance, I'm offering a coaching special this holiday season. Coaching is a great way to jumpstart your writing, troubleshoot obstacles, and create more space and commitment for your creativity. It's a great gift to yourself, or somebody else you are thankful for.
And here's my thanks: thanks for reading. Thanks for responding. Thanks for signing up and for showing up. You're the best.
