I don’t know about where you are, but it’s real, big time summer here in NC—hot and humid, mosquito bites aplenty, lots of watermelon and iced tea and broad-brimmed hats and afternoon naps and popsicles and my favorite, the pool. And of course summer means vacation. I truly love the work I do and yammering to you about my teaching and writing—and wow am I excited for some R&R.
I’ll be taking a month off from writing these missives to you, but while I’m gone, some excellent writers will be sharing their wisdom, inspiration, and humor with you. Starting this week, you’ll get a guest post in your inbox every Friday for four weeks. I hope you find their words encouraging and enjoyable, and most of all, I hope they make you want to write and celebrate your creativity.
One more thing before I go: there are spots open in my weekday writing group (which meets once a month, on Friday afternoons, in Chapel Hill). If you are ready to plug into creative community, get constructive feedback, learn how to be a better writer, and have a freakin’ blast, hit reply and let me know.
I’ll be back in your inbox on August 18th. Till then, keep writing. And sweating and singing and summering in whatever way calls to you.
J.
